Letter from Principal

Dear Parents,Sherry Woodman

It is a privilege to provide you a glimpse into the community and spirit of Christ the King School. Our students are challenged in a strong academic and faith-filled community. We have faculty who focus on specialized areas such as Math, Reading, Science, Humanities, Fine Arts and Spanish as well as learning specialists for Gifted and Talented and Remediation.

School days begin and end with prayer, led by our middle school students, to keep our hearts and minds focused on God who is always with us and has a plan for each of us. The hours in between are filled with carefully planned instructional activities to help students fulfill their potential as Christian disciples, scholars, and friends. Each academic day provides students with lessons that go beyond basic skills to encourage creativity, deep thinking, independent learning goals, and leadership in an environment that is safe and nurturing.

Students learn to reach out to others in our community as they learn Principles of Catholic Social Justice. During the past year classes have collected food for the poor, written letters to shut-ins, prepared lunches for the homeless, and brought in their own books for underprivileged children. Celebrating the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation within our community keeps us close to Christ and to each other.

Combining our vigorous academics with a robust array of extracurricular activities that enable our youth to develop into well-rounded individuals. Our mission is to focus on the whole child both in and out of the classroom.

Our educational experience also emphasizes the importance of relationships across generations. Our buddy system, with older students mentoring younger students, teaches the gifts of generosity and responsibility. Additionally, transfer students are paired with a buddy classmate to help them transition to their new school environment. Our parents volunteer to serve the school in many different ways, and we encourage family members to visit during special activities, worship services, and lunch periods.

I encourage you to look through our materials and explore this website. We also welcome you to schedule a personal tour with the principal or admissions director, and then a shadow day visit for your child. Our students and faculty will bear witness to a community where learning, laughter, and love abide.

As you seek the school that "fits" your student, we appreciate your time in exploring Christ the King School. I look forward to meeting you and having you find out why parents have chosen Christ the King School as the learning community for their children. It is often said "There is something special about this place." I encourage you to come and find out why.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sherry Woodman
