The best preparation for Christmas is to celebrate Advent and waiting for the coming of Emmanuel, God-with-us. It comes in two parts. The first part is announces God's promise to deliver His people, and the prophet Isaiah provides wonderful images of God's Kingdom which will arrive with the Messiah. John the Baptist, the wildman of the bible, shakes us out of our complacency and urges us to clear a path in our hearts so that the Promised One can enter in. And then, at the very end of the season, we hear the story of how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. The best way to enter into the spirit of the season is to follow the readings of the mass each day. Visit the Church website,www.ctk.org/catholic-links‚Äč, for links to the readings (on the left side) and resources for Advent on the right.

Here are some of our favorite Advent resources. Need a quick explanation of Advent? There's no better overview than BustedHalo.com's Advent in Two Minutes YouTube video.

Need an Advent calendar to mark the days in a prayerful way? BustedHalo.com has one here, and you can also go the US Catholic Bishops' website for another interactive calendar here

Join the whole People of God by making a place in your home and in your hearts for the newborn King. Join your parish family as we come together to celebrate at the Eucharist; you can find the Christmas mass schedule here on the Church site.

Visiting Mary Program

Christ the King School invites families to participate in our Visiting Mary program. For each classroom our Home and School, along with the support of our church, has purchased statues of Mary, rosaries, prayer booklets, and music CD’s dedicated to the devotion of Mary, all packed in a convenient tote bag. If you choose to sign up, the “Mary Bag” will go home with your child on Tuesday afternoon and will be expected back in the classroom the following Tuesday morning.

If you would like to have a week with Mary in your home, please sign up via the SignUpGenius at:
