We have a lot to celebrate this month! We welcome our School and PREP second graders to the table of the Lord as they make their First Communion. Our School and PREP eighth grade students have made an adult commitment to own and affirm the promises made on their behalf at Baptism and have been sealed and strengthened with the anointing of the sacrament of Confirmation.
May is also the month when we honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus and our own Mother in faith. We marked the first school Mass in May by honoring Mary with a gift of flowers from our students. This is a good time to make use of the traditional Catholic devotion of the Rosary. In the Rosary we pray with Mary that we might be able to follow her example of saying "Yes" to God, each in our own way, as we walk our journey of being faithful followers of Jesus, as we learn to say and to live the words "Thy will be done." That's the deeper meaning of the phrase "to Jesus through Mary" that is often associated with the Rosary.
Don't let this month go by without taking a few minutes to pray with our mother Mary, to honor her example, and ask for the graces we need to be able to say "Thy will be done" with her as we take our part in the effort to build up the Kingdom of God in our own way.
